Italian Snaphaunce - Circa 1560

Italian Snaphaunce

Italian SnaphaunceAt 15½ inches this isn't a huge gun, but it is still a chunky handful. Based on a snaphaunce design by a gunsmith named Tortiglione, which I had seen in an antique auction. It's a beautiful handgun with distinctive lines, I have one of my own that I adore. This pistol tucks easily into a sash or large boot.

To the right you can see an example of this bandgun's design origins.
